An unmanned rocket owned by Jeff Bezos burst into flames on a launch pad at Cape Canaveral, Florida, on Thursday night.

The 320-foot-tall New Glenn rocket was undergoing a “hot fire” test, in which engines fire while the rocket remains on the ground. No one was injured in the incident, according to media reports.

“Very rough day, but we’ll rebuild whatever needs rebuilding and get back to flying. It’s worth it,” Bezos, who owns the Blue Origin rocket company, posted on X. He added that it was “too early to know the root cause” of the accident.

Elon Musk, owner of rival SpaceX, called the incident “most unfortunate,” adding, “rockets are hard.”
