President Donald Trump is polling well with black voters, something that could have “major implications for elections down the line,” CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten said Thursday.
“What we’re seeing right now in the numbers is President Trump and the Republican Party are chipping away at the long term advantage that Democrats have had with black voters, with African Americans,” Enten said, citing polling that showed 16% of black voters approve of Trump, compared to 12% at this point in his first term.
That shift could affect tight races in the November midterm elections, Enten said.
“I see this as absolutely part of a bigger trend,” he added. “Donald Trump’s Republican Party is absolutely gaining ground.”
In another video, CNBC reported initial jobless claims fell to their lowest level since 1969 last week, coming in at 189,000, or 12% lower than predicted.
“Truly incredible,” host Rick Santelli said. “This is very, very incredible.”
